The Introduction to Horsemanship Day Course is a full-day course designed to introduce participants to the foundations of horsemanship, horse care, riding knowledge, and the heritage of mounted archery.
Date: 12 July 2026 (Sisters Only)
Time: 10:00 AM – 4:00 PM
Location: Loddon Court Farm, RG7 1HT
Instructor: Creasent Archers Female Coach – Jamila Bi (BHAA Coach)
Cost: £120 per participant (Females only)
Max group size: 12 participants (ages 10+)
A 30 min lunch break will take place during the day.
What You Will Learn
During the course participants will learn about:
• Fundamentals of horsemanship and horse behaviour
• Horse psychology and the relationship between horse and rider
• Horse breeds, anatomy, and key facts about horses
• The role of horses in history, horseback archery cultures, and Islamic tradition
• Grooming techniques and essential horse care
• Safe horse handling and stable etiquette
• Understanding horse tack including saddles and bridles
• How horses are trained and prepared for mounted archery
Participants will also take part in practical sessions including:
• Grooming and interacting with horses
• Learning how to safely lead a horse
• A supervised riding opportunity
• A ground archery “have-a-go” session
Who This Course Is For
This course is ideal for:
• Complete beginners
• Non-riders interested in learning about horses
• Archers preparing for future horseback archery training
• Anyone interested in horsemanship and traditional mounted disciplines
No previous horse riding experience is required.
Certificate
At the end of the course participants will receive a Certificate of Completion.
